For the 2016-2017 School Year, I have funds available for 2 full scholarships or a combination of half and full scholarships for students from low-income families to receive lessons at a subsidized rate. All are welcome to apply, and I especially encourage applications from students of color and female students.
Fill out the application below if you feel you may qualify.
-1 year, roughly 45 weeks of 1/2 hour lessons at my studio in NE Minneapolis
-FULL: $5/lesson or $20/month
-HALF: $15/lesson or $60/month
-Scholarship also covers cost of new methods and materials, but student must have access to their own instrument
-Need-based- for a low-income student who could not otherwise afford private lessons (if you are eligible for the free and reduced lunch program you are eligible here)
-Students must be driven to succeed in music, and would fully benefit from the addition of private lessons to their routine
-Weekly practice of lesson materials is required, along with the completion of a practice log
-2 private or public performances given in the scholarship year by the student. This can be almost anything! A performance at church, school, a retirement community, for a family gathering, etc.
If you don’t qualify or win the scholarship, but still want private lessons, I can also offer lesson rates on a sliding scale:
30 minute lessons: $20-30 per lesson
45 minute lessons: $25-40 per lesson
60 minute lessons: $35-50 per lesson
All lessons using a sliding scale will be held at my home studio in NE Minneapolis. Contact me for more information!
How do I fund my scholarships? Well, this year I used a highly successful GoFundMe campaign to raise money to offer subsidized lessons. The campaign is closed, but if you want to give money to my cause, I will use it to continue to offer high quality private music instruction to low-income families. You can donate via my PayPal.me page or contact me for other options.
